Membership Information

Meeting Information

The Presque Isle Rotary Club offers two meeting options each week to accommodate our members’ busy schedules. The traditional weekly luncheon is hosted in the Campus Center at the University of Maine at Presque Isle from 12pm to 1pm each Monday. Meal options are individually purchased through the campus cafeteria and paid via cash or card at the cashier. Our weekly Thursday breakfast meetings are a more intimate setting and hosted at Teresa’s Café, with the opportunity to purchase breakfast and coffee.

Dues/Fees

Our Rotary club dues are $200 annually, with an additional $50 annual meeting cost fee. This money is used to pay Rotary International and District Dues, as well as cover the expenses of the club. Dues are billed annually and are expected to be paid within sixty days. In addition, there is a $35 induction fee to help cover costs of materials related to the induction.

Meeting Attendance

While we strive for 100% attendance, 50% participation is required to stay in good standing. Attendance make-ups are available by visiting another club or our satellite club, participating in an online session, or attending a board meeting; these are held monthly and meeting details can be provided to you by any member of the club leadership. As a member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club you are welcome to attend meetings across the globe and are part of the Rotary International Community. Check it out at www.rotary.org. Once you have become a member, you will be able to sign in to the member area to see the directory of Rotarians, communicate with other members, know your committee assignment, etc.

Committee Participation

All members are assigned to one of our club committees: Membership, Youth and Literacy, Scholarship, Public Image, Service, or Foundation. Our club’s success is determined by our members’ involvement in our committees. New members are assigned to the Sergeant at Arms subcommittee, assisting the Sergeant at Arms and covering the front desk at Monday meetings. Members can serve on as many committees as they’d like, but active participation in the committees is required. Many committees will also have subcommittees that allow Rotarians to pursue their passions, to get involved with the community or international service projects or reach out to youth locally.

Club Projects and Events

All club members are encouraged to take part in the annual club projects, events, and fundraisers that take place throughout the year. These projects include: Thesaurus Day, Purple Pinkie Project, Safe Steps, Spring Into Service, Rotary Reads to ME, the Dessert Auction, Aroostook River Fun Run, just to name a few. A full list of club projects can be found here: presqueislerotary.org/whatwedo

Every Rotarian / Every Year

The Rotary Foundation is our charity of choice as Rotarians. Funds raised for the foundation support our Rotary six areas of focus around the world. Our club also can receive grants from the foundation in the form of district grants to support our work locally. Our goal is to have every Rotarian contribute at least $25 every year to the Rotary Foundation. Or, if you like, become a sustaining member, donating $100 a year for 10 years.
